Arrest Includes Unusual Weapons

A San Jose woman is facing a number of weapon and identity theft charges, after a weekend arrest in Nevada County. CHP Sergeant Robert Nevins says 45-year-old Arelia Avalos was pulled over on Highway 49 near McKnight Road early Sunday. A male parolee, also from San Jose, got out of the vehicle and escaped on foot and has not been located. Nevins says inside the vehicle, officers found several rather unorthodox weapons. Nevins says Avalos also had three no-bail arrest warrants out of Mariposa County, where she was on probation, including for identity theft convictions.
