Arrests made in Lake Wildwood Burglaries

Three people have been arrested and one suspect is still on the loose following a series of burglaries in Lake Wildwood. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Smethers says on Monday morning, October 20, the sheriff’s office had been notified of a burglary in progress and was given a suspect vehicle description.

A deputy on patrol saw the suspect vehicle.  It was being driven by 45 year old Jody Anne McCannn.  He stopped the vehicle and a passenger in the car, 23 year old Cody Ray Cook, exited the vehicle and took off running.

As deputies developed more information a search warrant was served on Wednesday at two residences in Lake Wildwood, one in the 11000 block of Lake Wildwood Drive and one in the 140000 block of Sun Forest drive.

Lt. Smethers says Jody McCann was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance  and her son 23 year old Tanner McCann was arrested for possession of stolen property, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two 6 year old children at the residence were also taken into child protective custody.

At this point Lt. Smethers says  Cody Cook is still unaccounted for. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Its about time. Everyone in Wildwood knows the Cooks have been doing the crimes for years. Many are frustrated at the little that has been done on the law enforcement side of things.
