New Provider For Crisis Stabilization Unit

Nevada County’s Crisis Stabilization Unit has reopened with a new provider, Pacific Clinics, offering 24/7 mental health support and peer services.

Yardley describes the CSU as a safe, voluntary place for accepting walk-in mental health assessments 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for people 18 and older who are experiencing some level of distress. It has four beds available for 23 hours. It provides coping strategies, safety planning, and referrals to community resources. And for the first time, it will also offer peer support partners, giving adults the opportunity to connect with someone who has faced similar challenges and understands what they are going through.  It’s next door to the Emergency Department of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. It had been closed down for about a month, to allow time for some repairs and internal updates before making way for the new provider. Meanwhile, Yardley says plans for expanding the mental health continuum of care are moving forward, with the new Deer Creek Behavioral Health Center expected to open by the late fall of 2027. Services for people undergoing an acute mental health crisis will be available locally for the first time…

That’ll be located on the Rood Center government campus, with 16 beds to be available. There’ll be short-term treatment lasting anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days, as well as long-term recovery care that could last for months to over a year.
