Three Suspicious Felons Arrested Downtown Nevada City

Three Camptonville residents were arrested in Nevada City after police discovered a firearm, drugs, and stolen property in their vehicle. All three face multiple felony charges.
Three people from the Camptonville area created some excitement in downtown Nevada City for police Wednesday afternoon. Lieutenant Sean Mason says an officer had responded to a report of 42-year-old Carli Grandell, 36-year-old Joshua Whitman, and 32-year-old Christian Ponce being engaged in some suspicious behavior near the SPD Market on Zion Street. That included looking inside parked vehicles…
Mason says a search of the vehicle turned up drug
paraphernalia and a firearm underneath a seat. He says there was warrant out for Ponce
on suspicion of burglary in Grass Valley as well as a prior theft, which may
have been the firearm. Grandell was also found with a small user amount of
methamphetamine. And since the three were all convicted felons, Ponce and
Whitman ended up being booked on eight felony charges each, with Grandell
booked on five felonies…
Camptonville is about 35 miles from Nevada City, in Yuba
County.
