If you can imagine 7,000 bags of groceries, that’s how much food the Interfaith Food Ministry gave out to families in the community last month. Sue Van Son the President of the faith based non-profit that provides food to close to 900 families says their force of 450 volunteers collect food from local grocery stores then distribute food at their location at 551 Whiting Street in Grass Valley, which is also the location for people who need help to sign up to receive groceries.

Interfaith Food Ministry has been providing supplemental food as a 501(3) non profit in Western Nevada County since 1987. Van Son says they rely heavily on donations from the public and hope people will come to a special fundraiser this Saturday May 19th at the Smith Vinyards tasting room at 142 Mill Street from noon to 8pm.

Also, to support Interfaith Food Ministry people can sign up at SPD Markets for the Community Card and designate IFM as the recipient. Three percent  of the purchase will be donated to Interfaith Food Ministries.
