Smith says ASA-NC is starting an email campaign to Senator Correa explaining the concerns and is also following the national movement o introduce similar legislation in other states. A similar bill has been introduced in Colorado several times, but has been defeated each time because of what Smith refers to as the bad science used in the detection of marijuana.
SB 289 has been referred to the Senate Public Safety Committee for review.
