Asteroid Misses Earth

A asteroid passed very close to the earth on earlier today. Local amateur astronomer Don Machholz says the asteroid was not visible to the naked eye or even with binoculars. Mochholz says the asteroid was discovered a year ago and scientists have been tracking and defining it’s orbit. He says the path of the asteroid is much closer to the earth than the moon.

The asteroid is one hundred and fifty feet wide and only visible with a telescope. Mochholz says there is no danger of the earth being hit by the very large space rock. The seventeen thousand miles from the earth will equate to almost six trips across the US.
