Attempted Murder Charges Filed Against GV Man

When a 69-year-old Grass Valley man was arrested last week for stabbing a couple of men he knew he had not been charged yet. Eugene Maravel is undergoing a mental evaluation. But Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell says they’ve now taken a step to start the legal process…

Newell says he’s not sure how long it will take to complete the evaluation, which is being conducted at a Sacramento facility. But once it’s completed, Maravel would then be picked up by Grass Valley Police and transferred to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. Police say Maravel was upset with the two men for not returning property to him before the stabbings occurred near his home on Stewart Street, on August 6th. A 4-inch folding pocket knife was used. The victims were last reported to be recovering from their wounds.
