The new resource center at the Nevada County Fairgrounds to help students with no or poor internet access for distance learning has been lightly attended so far. It’s managed by Bright Futures for Youth. The Digital Learning Center opened on October 26th in the Main Exhibit Building. It can accomodate up to 38 students. But Bright Futures Executive Director Jennifer Singer says no more than ten have been there at a time…
Speaking on “KNCO: Insight”, with Tom Fitzsimmons, Singer says four to six adults are on hand for supervision, but that’s limited by coronavirus restrictions…
The lease agreement with the county, for the center, has also meant 450-thousand dollars in much-needed revenue for the Fairgrounds. About half the money from the county comes from the Coronavirus Relief Fund. It’s open 8:15am to 2pm weekdays. Free breakfasts and lunches are also available.
