Auburn Bookstore Closing at End of Month

An Auburn bookstore owner is announcing plans to close her business at the end of the month.  Shelle Parsons owns the Book Haven on Lincoln Way in downtown Auburn and   says the one two punch of a weak economy and surging sales of e-readers like the Kindle Fire led to her decision to close December 31st.

Parsons admits being tucked away in the gold Country Mall and lack of parking in the area has also hurt business.

In the 8 years parsons has owned Book Haven she has also sold used books on line and says she could see the recession coming.

Parsons says her advise to other bookstore owners is to be careful and not wait too long if things are bad.  She says she personally knows 3 people who have lost their houses, trying to keep their businesses open, so you have to know when to close the doors.
