Auburn Teen Found with Gun in Grass Valley

An Auburn teen was found with a loaded handgun in Grass Valley. Police Sergeant Clint Bates says officer received information about a person in the area of Safeway Monday evening, who had just put a handgun in a backpack. Sergeant Bates says officers checked the area and were not able to find the man.  A hour later the man returned to the area and officers confronted him. Sergeant Bates says several officers tried to search 18 year old Richard Roberts of Auburn.

Officers removed a loaded 9 millimeter Glock hand gun from inside his coat. Roberts was taken into custody for caring a concealed weapon and several additional charges related to the possession of the handgun. Officers feel the young man was heavily under the influence of possible alcohol and armed making a deadly situation.
