Jon Katis moved to Nevada County in 1986 after purchasing Empire Home Medical in November 1985. He operated Empire until 2003. He began hosting "Healthline" in 1990 as a community service to raise the awareness of Nevada County residents to the changing issues in health care in America. As a member of the board of directors for the National Association of Medical Equipment Suppliers, he was at the forefront of the changes in Medicare and MediCal laws and loves to bring new issues to the attention of his listeners. Jon has served on the Boards of the Grass Valley Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, The Lutz Center, the Rotary Club of Grass Valley, the Nevada County Fair and the Nevada Joint Union High School District. He is most proud of being involved with "Measure A" which was the first successful School Bond passed by Nevada County residents since the 1960's. This measure brought $15,000,000.00 to the High School District. These funds have been used to make health and safety improvements to the Nevada Union and Park Avenue sites and to complete Bear River High School with a pool and performing arts center. He states "we have amazingly talented kids in this county and they deserve the best facilities to maximize their abilities". Jon and his wife Kathy have raised their 3 beautiful daughters in Nevada County and enjoy everything this community has to offer. He is currently involved with Lucchesi Vineyards and Winery and is helping to notify the world that Nevada County Wines are to be envied. Nevada County is a destination worth discovering!
