Dustin Kirk was shot five times by Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies, and two of the bullets killed him. That’s the determination made by autopsy after the shooting death on Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Department says the 35 year-old was heavily intoxicated and got into a physical altercation with his mother at a home on Brookview Drive Circle. He reportedly pointed a gun at deputies when they arrived, and the deputies then discharged their weapons. The Sheriff’s Department has not released the names of the deputies involved, but in a press release, they say that one had been with the department since 2013 and the other has been employed there just five months. They are on paid administrative leave while the investigations continue.
