Band Holds Mattress Sale as Fundraiser

With different non-profit organizations doing different things to raise money, the Nevada Union High School Band has come up with a different idea. Band Director Ken Carter says this weekend, they are having a mattress sale…

…everything from twin beds and fulls, up to queens and kings, and about half off what you might normall pay. Carter says just selling 30 mattresses can bring in over five thousand dolalrs for the band, and other bands back east have had fundraisers that bring in significantly more than that. Carter says they are always looking to raise money, but wanted to do something in a more unique way…

Proceeds go to the band to fund things like instrument repair, and buses for out-of-town performances and competitions. The mattress sale is at the Nevada Union High School cafeteria Saturday from 10am to 5pm. The jazz band will be performing while people shop.
