Bay Area Cyclist Killed in Truckee Accident

On Saturday,November 24,  Truckee Police Department and Truckee Fire Protection District responded to a traffic collision in the Downtown area of Truckee.  Truckee Police Sergeant, Robert Womack, says it involved a cyclist and a pickup truck.

Womack says witnesses provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

The cyclist, Robert Koechlin age 45, was pronounced deceased from major injuries suffered in the collision. Koechlin was a resident of Los Gatos, California and was visiting the area.

Truckee Police Department continues to investigate this collision.  Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved.  The traffic investigation unit asks that anyone who was a witness to contact Sgt. Womack at (530) 550-2335.
