Beale Air Force Base Infrastructure Upgrades Ahead

Beale Air Force Base still has the same wastewater treatment facility and electrical system, since it opened as Camp Beale in 1942. But plans are in the works for major upgrades. 9th Reconnaisance Wing Vice Commander, Colonel Christopher Stricklin, says they’re looking to partner with off-base agencies, to save money. Stricklin says constructing a new on-base wastewater plant through a military contractor would cost 22-million dollars. Gridley Electric Utility is scheduled to replace power lines in July and is also in discusssions with Beale to replace 50 of the base’s 2-thousand power poles…

Stricklin says a another electricity project in the works is for Beale to connect to a 230-kilovolt line with the Western Area Power Administration. The base is currently only connected to a 60 kilovolt line.
