It’s been a special project for the last several holiday seasons, but it has an added meaning this time. Lynn Slay is a cook at the Nevada County Juvenile Hall, and with inspiration from her sister, came up with the idea of ‘Beanies for Babies’.
Slay says right now, the juvenile hall population is only six, and all of the teenagers there are involved. While the hats are not just for babies anymore, they are given out to many charities, but there’s more of a focus this year on the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Cancer Center…
Slay their goal is to make 70 beanies before the end of the year. As of about a week ago, they had made over 40.
