Bear River 49 Orland 7

The Bear River opened their 2017 football season in dominating style, defeating the Orland Trojans 49-7.  The game was dominated by penalties in the first four minutes, requiring meetings with team captains, both teams’ head coaches, and culminating with Bear River’s top tackler and quarterback, Luke Baggett, getting ejected for a controversial call of targeting the head of an opposing player.  Calder Kunde came in and ran a flawless game at quarterback and Stephen Taylor dominated the ground game for the Bruins highlighted by a 60 yard touchdown run.  Travis Carpenter and Tre Maronic also scored two touchdown apiece.  The Bruins do the road to face Union Mine in a non-league contest next Friday.
