For the second time in its history, Bear River High School’s chapter of the National Future Farmers of America has earned a state championship in Agriculture Mechanics. The four-student team will represent California at the National Finals in October in Indianapolis. The contest is divided into seven sub contests: woodworking, electrical wiring, arc welding, gas welding and cutting, surveying, problem solving, and a written test. Reid says the Bear River High School agriculture program has always had tremendous support from the community and local ag industry…
Out of over 50 teams competing statewide, only the top 24 teams and 91 students qualify to compete at the state final. Reid says the title sets in motion a fundraising drive for the 10-thousand dollars necessary to send the students to Indianapolis.
