A bear versus car collision slowed traffic northbound on Highway 49 just outside of Grass Valley around 6:15 Monday morning.
CHP Officer Mike Steele tells KNCO it was a pretty good sized bear.

Neither the bear or the Honda Accord fared well in the incident.

The driver of the Honda did the right thing be applying the breaks and holding straight in her lane as the road conditions in that area of 49 do not provide many chances to pull to the shoulder.

The CHP reminds drivers that this is the time of year wildlife is more active and bears and deer are often hit while crossing the road early in the morning and late in the evening.
