Benefit Dinner for Veteran Dale Thomas Draws Crowd

There was a packed house at the Northridge Restaurant in Nevada City Monday night as lots of supporters came out for  50 year old Dale Thomas, a quadriplegic veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who’s San Juan Ridge home needs extensive repairs to accommodate his disabilility.  Fred Buhler with Friends of Nevada County Military says a small project grew into a major home renovation after it was learned that Dale Thomas couldn’t get his mail, because his driveway was in disrepair.

Dale Thomas Vets working Dale Thomas floor rotJohn Bynes the Commandant of the Marine Corps League has lead the renovation effort and  says volunteers  have been able to make improvements to  the bedroom and bathroom areas and flooring in the house, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The community and local businesses are coming through with donations.

Bynes says he did just get some good news, Home Depot has accepted their application for a Service Grant to help wounded veterans.
