Bennett Fire Erupts in Grass Valley

A fire first reported right around noontime in the Area of East Bennett Rd is burning in brush and timber and has reached about 6 acres in size.  Cal Fire reports 9 fire engines, 2 air tankers, hand crews, and dozers are on the fire.  Other Agencies include Peardale, Chicago Park, Nevada County Consolidated, Grass Valley and Penn Valley Fire Departments.

Grass Valley Air Attack has been making runs on the fire with drops of retardant.

No injuries have been reported.

East Bennett Rd. is closed.

The Food Bank of Nevada County is located on Rail Road Avenue, near the fire.  There employees have evacuated.
