Bennett Fire Update 1:30p.m.

The Bennett Fire that broke out about noontime today in the area of Hills Flat Lumber near East Bennett Road. is now 40 percent contained.  it is estimated at about 7 acres in size.

Voluntary evacuations are in place though the  Food Bank of Nevada County that is located on Railroad Avenue next to Hills Flat Lumber has evacuated.

Officials say forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

Destiny Dudley is an employee at Hills Flat Lumber and tells us the fire looks like it might be contained.
