It’s a very sad day for the students and staff at Nevada Union High School with the resignation of John McDaniel, and award winning teacher and varsity girls basketball coach. And the reason for his departure is clear from his resignation letter…relentless verbal abuse from a handful of parents. I know the parents involved..both men and women by the way…and knowing them, they are probably pretty proud of themselves today. In their wake of abuse, the students have lost one of the most talented teachers that the high school district has ever had, for John could, and maybe should, be teaching at the college level. Not to mention that he has maintained a winning girls basketball program in a very tough league with declining enrollment…something that other sports have not been able to accomplish. And John did it with class, with dignity, with respect…all value that I am sure his students and players took into their lives. I only wished it could have rubbed off on these nasty parents…but like I said…I know them. They have no class. All the best John McDaniel to you and yours. You will be missed.
