Big Pot Bust on I80 in Auburn Area

An Auburn CHP Officer working speed enforcement detail on eastbound Highway 80 just outside of Auburn discovered more than a driver in a hurry when he pulled over a speeding vehicle. On Wednesday just after 10:00 AM  a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer observed a black Jeep Cherokee traveling at approximately 90 mph and conducted a traffic stop. CHP Information Officer David Martinez says the officer noticed a suspicious odor coming from the vehicle.

AuburnCHPPot2The driver identified as Eduardo Angeles Jr. (age 23 from Rockford Il.) was removed from the vehicle
Additional officers and the Placer County Sheriff’s department were contacted and the vehicle was searched.

AuburnCHPPot1Total weight of the marijuana was greater than 100 pounds.
Mr. Angeles was  booked into the Placer County Jail for several charges including possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of marijuana for sale.
