“Bike-by” Activity Leads to Drug Related Arrest

A suspicious bicycle rider caught the attention of a Grass Valley Police officer on duty on East Main Street Thursday night. Sgt Steve Johnson says the officer spotted a male subject on a bicycle, a little before 10 PM, ride into a hotel parking lot and approach one of the rooms.

Because of the time of night and the suspicious nature of the activity, the officer made contact with the bike rider who was identified as 21 year old Jacob Gibson.

Gibson was unable to provide any reasonable explanation as to why he was at the hotel. The officer determined Gibson was under the influence of a controlled substance then placed him under arrest and proceeded to search him.

Jacob Gibson was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance along with possession of paraphernalia and being under the influence. The incident remains under investigation.
