Biomass Facility Closer to Coming to Nevada County

Nevada County is getting closer to having a Biomass facility that could aid in efforts to reduce heavy fuels in the county. Steve Eubanks is a member of the Biomass Task Force that formed in the county 6 years ago. He says they recently joined with the Camptonville Community Partnership for some grant funding and received $275,000.

The two potential sites are on La Barr meadows Road. One is near Rare Earth and the other site is next to Hansen Brothers.

Eubanks says to build a 3 megawatt facility it would cost from 12 to 15 million dollars.  Eubanks says the county would not have to come up with that money.  Energy Investors would be sought to build and run the plant,

Eubanks says if everything goes well with the process a biomass plant could be up and running within two to three years in Nevada County.
