BioMass Task Force to Share Potential Sites

The Nevada County Biomass Task Force has been doing feasibility work on the potential for locating a Biomass Energy Facility in Western Nevada County. A bio-energy facility would use the highly flammable forest undergrowth and chipped forest debris to produce electricity. Task Force member, Steve Eubanks, says on Wednesday November 22 the Task Force is going to share preliminary results of a study that is being completed by an external consulting firm.

The open house type meeting will allow citizens to see which properties have been identified as potential sites.

Eubanks wants to emphasize this is an informational meeting- no decision has been made on how to proceed or develop any sites.

Four of the proposed sites are in the Grass Valley area and one site is in Penn Valley.
The public open house meeting will be held at the Tahoe National Forest Office at 631 Coyote Street in Nevada City from 5 to 7 PM.
