Ricky McKinnie is one of seven members in the band, which has actually been in existence for over 70 years. ‘Blind Boys’ was founded in 1939 at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind, and has evolved into an international following. Three of the band members are sightless, including McKinnie. McKinnie says he’s been associated with them for just about all of his life…

He says he’s been a full-time band member for 22 years and plays the drums as well as sings. And McKinnie says, no matter what, if you attend the show, you’ll leave in a good mood…

The show is presented by the Center for the Arts and is Saturday at 8pm at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are 35 dollars for members, 40 for non-members.
