The Grass Valley City Council is being asked to approve body-worn cameras for its police officers. Police Chief Alex Gammelgard says after a year and half of research, they have not only decided which cameras to get, and how many, but also how to deal with all of the recordings…
The department has also formulated a policy about the recordings that will be shared with the council at its meeting tonight, as part of a presentation. Gammelgard says they are looking at initially purchasing over two-dozen cameras…
If the council approves, Gammelgard says the cameras can be ordered, and would be implemented in two phases, with the first coming as early as the beginning of July. Tonight’s council meeting is at 7 o’clock at Grass Valley City Hall.
