The Body of an infant was discovered by Sheriff’s Deputies in the New Castle area of Placer county Yesterday (Thursday). An observant woman walking in Newcastle (Thursday) afternoon led to the discovery of body on Green Hills Court. At 4:55 p.m., the woman reported to a deputy who happened to be in the area that she saw a trash bag off the side of the road and that it had a foul odor. The deputy checked the bag and found the body, which is being described as an infant. Detectives were immediately called to the scene and are canvassing the nearby neighborhoods. The area the body was found, is an undeveloped subdivision named Green Hills Estates, off of Newcastle Road. An autopsy was completed today on the body. The coroner determined the age of the baby to be “near-term.” There will be no other information released on the baby, including the sex, for investigative reasons.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the mother of the baby. Anyone who may have known a recently pregnant female who is no longer pregnant and does not have a baby to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (530) 889-7800. Anyone with this information who wishes to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 is asked to call Placer County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-923-8191.
