Wilson says she’d like to think that good education, through the Health Department’s WIC program, has been a factor. She says new moms who breastfeed recover faster and have 30% less cancer. For the babies, there’s less Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and infection, as well as fewer cases of child diabetes and cancer. The County Breastfeeding Coalition will also once again have their “Rock-n-Relax” booth inside the Ponderosa Building, for a cool, private area for infant feeding and diaper changing.
