BRHS Precautionary Lock Down Cleared Quickly

A lockdown at Bear River High school was only in effect for a few minutes shortly after 8:00 this morning when  a man suspected to be under the influence was spotted on the Bear River Campus. School Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Chris Espedal says school officials asked the man to leave, but he initially refused and the Sheriff’s office was notified.

Nevada County Sheriff Lieutenant Paul Schmidt, said the deputies made contact with the suspect as he was leaving the campus.

Espedal says students and staff responded effectively and efficiently when the emergency response system at Bear River High School was activated.

The entire incident took about 15 minutes from notification to resolution.
