Bridge Site Selected For NID Reservoir Project

What’s called a “selected alternative” has been made for a new Dog Bar Road bridge crossing for the Centennial Reservoir project. Nevada Irrigation District General Manager Rem Scherzinger says the Lower Crossing is downstream from the existing bridge, which will be inundated when the reservoir is filled. Scherzinger says it’s seen as the most direct, traffic-efficient, and cost-effective alternative, at a cost of 54-million dollars. But he also points out that the feasibility won’t be known for sure until after the draft environmental impact report is released, in March or April…

NID officials says the new bridge would also provide the best access for a future marina on the Nevada County side of the reservoir. They anticipate construction of the reservoir be begin in 2021, the district’s centennial year, with operation in 2023.
