Bridgeport Bridge Restoration Unlikely In 2017

Earlier this year, an Assembly budget subcommittee rejected a request from the State Department of Parks and Recreation to put another 2-point-6 million dollars in this year’s state budget. The cost of the project has tripled, after a more in-depth study of the bridge was completed. Meanwhile, Moon says getting all the necessary permits in a timely manner could make it difficult to start the project next summer anyway, including environmental requirements…

Moon says the Parks Department has hired a consultant to speed up the permitting process. If it’s successful, there’d be one more attempt to accelerate the construction timetable and gain the additional funding for next year. Moon says the State Department of Finance starts working on the following year’s state budget plan during the fall months and the delegation also met with the budget manager to discuss the project in more detail. That also included Nevada County Supervisor Hank Weston and the Executive Director of the South Yuba River Citizens League, Caleb Dardick.
