Brown Signs A-B 21, Marijuana Deadline Lifted

Cities and counties no longer have to have a medical marijuana ordinance in place by March first to avoid being subject to state regulations. Governor Brown has signed A-B 21 which removes the deadline, and instead exempts cities and counties from state guidelines once they have adopted a local ordinance. Nevada City has already passed an ordinance limiting indoor grows to 25 square feet and banning all outdoor grows. That ordinance goes into effect next month. Meanwhile, Grass Valley is proceeding with a plan to ban all grows, indoor and outdoor, while also meeting with community members to eventually pass a compromise ordinance. A ban of outdoor grows in unincorporated parts of the county will go before voters in June.
