Burglaries Suspects Still Sought After Pursuit

Suspects are still being sought regarding a number of area burglaries, plus a vehicle pursuit, that happened last weekend. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says it began early Saturday, hours after a memorial at Bear River High School for two students killed in a vehicle accident last week. Royal says the suspect vehicle was stolen from Antioch. Placer County deputies soon spotted it and began pursuing it northbound on Highway 49. They abandoned their chase near Lake of the Pines, on Magnolia Road, where a Nevada County deputy took over…

Royal says sometime later the suspect vehicle was found abandoned in a ravine, off Retherford Road, where items stolen from the students’ car were found, along with items from burglaries in Sacramento and Grass Valley. Blood samples were also taken for analysis, to see if a match can be found on the department’s crime data base. He says two more burglaries were reported after that, on Knolls Drive, where another vehicle was stolen, as well as a shotgun, among other items. That vehicle is still missing.
