Royal says sometime later the suspect vehicle was found abandoned in a ravine, off Retherford Road, where items stolen from the students’ car were found, along with items from burglaries in Sacramento and Grass Valley. Blood samples were also taken for analysis, to see if a match can be found on the department’s crime data base. He says two more burglaries were reported after that, on Knolls Drive, where another vehicle was stolen, as well as a shotgun, among other items. That vehicle is still missing.
