Fire season is just around the corner and with the dry winter conditions, CalFire is preparing for the potential increase in the number of fires that may start as a result of debris burns. CalFire information Officer Lynne Tolmachoff says beginning May 1, which is Thursday, residents will need to acquire a permit in order to burn.*
Tolmachoff also says that preparing your defensible space around your dwelling should also be a priority prior to fire season.
Permits are available at local fire department during open hours. If you are out and about you can always go by CALFIRE Station 20 at the corner of Ridge Road to pickup a permit. Tolmachoff says debris piles do have restrictions and limitations.*
CalFire also wants to remind everyone that citizens will be cited for unpermitted burns and burn piles that escape and turn into wildland fires.
