Busy Couple of Days for NCPD

It’s been a busy few days for Nevada City Police, including an arrest for sexual assault. Nevada City Police on patrol late Saturday night noticed something suspicious in an alley off Broad Street. At the time, officers used the car-mounted light to illuminate the alley and two subjects were spotted.

Sergeant Paul Rohde says the fleeing suspect was later identified as 21 year-old Nicholas Reyes of Nevada City. Officers made contact with the second subject–a woman.

Reyes,-Nicholas1Reyes was taken into custody for a probation violation as well as the sexual assault charge.

A couple more arrests in Nevada City, including a driver that thought it was okay to drive at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Paul Rohde says officers began to follow the driver as he entered Highway 49 at Broad Street Sunday. However, it took a while before officers could catch up with the speeding vehicle.

The vehicle was eventually pulled over at Highway 49 and McKnight Way. Officers talked to 27 year-old Bryon Harritt of Grass Valley.

Harritt,-Bryon1Harritt was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.

In another arrest in Nevada City, a graffiti artist was taken into custody.

The suspect was booked for vandalism.
