BYLT Gets More Grant Money For Rices Crossing

More grant money has been awarded for two-thousand acres of land recently acquired by the Bear Yuba Land Trust. Executive Director Marty Coleman-Hunt says the $74,550 will be used for planning and permitting to enhance the forest health, and reduce the fire danger, for Rice’s Crossing Preserve, along 6 miles of the Yuba River below Bullards Bar Dam…

The Director of Land Stewardship for the Trust says having the opportunity to study the wildlife, plants, and ecosystems on the lands they conserve is essential to upholding their goals of protecting critical habitats and restoring these lands to the best of their ability. Meanwhile, Hunt says work has begun on establishing 10 miles of trails, which is funded by a separate $312,000 grant obtained in August. That also includes picnic and parking areas, and restrooms.
