CAL FIRE and National Guard Fire Training

As drought conditions continue to have a  hold on California, Cal Fire and the California National Guard are holding their annual fire aviation training. The joint helicopter training is scheduled for several days staring today at the Cal Fire academy in Ione and at Lake Pardee in Amador County.

Skilled pilots and crew that can get the water drop on target are a major tool in the fight against wildfires. During the joint helicopter training, and in consideration of the drought, they are changing the gamebook a little bit this year and will not be dropping water on the ridge tops.

The training will run for three days.
