CAL Fire Makes Arrest in Robbers Fire

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Law Enforcement Officers, with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a suspect for allegedly starting the 2650 acre Robbers fire burning near the community of Foresthill in Placer County. Bryon Mason, age 28 of Sacramento was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Placer County Jail. Mason is charged with Penal Code Section 452, defined as; A person guilty of unlawfully causing a fire when he recklessly sets fire to or burns or causes to be burned, any structure, forest land or property.

CAL FIRE is asking for the public’s help and would like to speak to potential witnesses or anyone who may have additional information about the fire. Investigators can be reached by calling CAL FIRE’s arson hot line at 800-468-4408 and callers can remain anonymous.
“This is the third arrest our officers have made in less than a month,” said Chief Ken Pimlott, director of CAL FIRE. “We don’t need reckless acts of carelessness and arson compounding California’s wildfire risk and we will continue to aggressively pursue those that engage in these types of acts.”
