So, Tassone says, Vaars leaned to the right front passenger side, because the tree was falling from the left. The tree crushed most of the cab, leaving part of the passenger side. The pickup continued about another 100 feet before coming to a halt, with Vaars getting out of the passenger side and escaping major injuries…

Tassone says Vaars was treated and released. Highway 49 was closed for about an hour for the tree to be removed.
