It was great having Coach Jeff Dellis on the air this morning to talk about two big events at NU’s Ali Gym. One is this weekend and was featured just the other day in The Union. Josiah Paye is putting on a 3 on 3 basketball tourney for his senior project to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. His Mom, Kathleen, has survived not one, but two bouts of breast cancer, just like my older sister, Annie. It is a great cause and the basketball should be great but we still need more teams to sign up. Three divisions: 6th to 8th grade, 9th-10th grade, and 11th grade-open. For the youngsters, a great opportunity to play at Ali Gym, the home of the Miners and Lady Miners…for everyone, a great reason to meet Josiah, a true Student Athlete, heading to Stanford University next Fall. The kids need role models and Josiah is a great one. Contact Josiah at 798-3790 or email at payej11@gmail.com to get signed up. I know it’s this Saturday…but love to see you there.
And, then Josiah’s Dad, John, has been very instrumental along with his older son, of bringing a group of San Francisco 49ers here to play basketball against the NU boys and girls varsity, and alumni as well on June 2nd. Tickets will be here soon and there are sponsorship opportunities that include tickets and meet and greets with the players. Coach Dellis has the details: his email at Nevada Union is JDELLIS@njuhsd.com. I will update when tickets are available but it promises to be an exciting fundraiser for a NU basketball programs.
