CalTrans Continues Cleanup on Slide Today

It was a rock slide that closed Highway 49 near Independence Trail for several hours last week, but although traffic is moving, the cleanup work isn’t done yet. CalTrans spokeswoman Liza Whitmore says crews will be back out there on the top of the hill today…

The work means one-way controlled traffic all day to remove the rocks…

The work is scheduled to be done between 9am and 4pm, so expect delays from Nevada City to North San Juan from Sun Shadow Circle to Nishinam Gulch Trail. Whitmore says the project only requires one day of lane closures.
