It’s a highway project that is still three years away, but Caltrans would like your input on it tonight…
Caltrans spokeswoman Liza Whitmore says some safety funds to widen the shoulders and realign a couple of curves on a one-mile stretch of the highway. A left turn lane will also be added at Greenhorn Access Road. Whitmore says there’s an open house this evening at the Peardale Fire Station…
Whitmore says with construction not set to begin until 2018, there’s plenty of time to include any ideas from the public into the project.

People drive 174 as fast as the road allows them to. I fear turning sections into high speed straight aways will only bring more deadly accidents.

I commute and use hwy 174. I have a hard time seeing the justification for the expense and further loss of trees and vegetation and a beautiful part of our state for a small section of "freeway" that would seem to benefit a very small # of local people and bureaucrats. Plus, speed will increase in my opinion and so will accidents. Why do we continue to waste tax payer money?
