It’s kind of like the first day of school. Nevada County’s Community Advisory Group formed to draft a cannabis ordinance met for the first time yesterday–the first of eight scheduled meetings. There are 16 members of the committee, representing different interests, or in some cases, have no direct interest in medical marijuana. Committee member Tom Cross of Penn Valley wants to help do the right thing, but told the group he wasn’t really up to speed on the current ordinance…
Still, there was mostly a feeling of optimism that a fair ordinance, representing growers, medical marijuana users, and others would be drafted by the time the committee is scheduled to finish its work in September. One member of the public, though, expressed his doubts…
There was a discussion of the current ordinance, and one by one, the discussion went around the room, with each member introducing themselves, and explaining their concerns and interests. Also, a meeting schedule was established, with the group meeting just about every other week. The next meeting will be Tuesday June 13 .
