A speeding vehicle ended up hitting a tree and the driver going to jail for evading a police officer. Sheriff Keith Royal says that a deputy was parked on the side of the road on Highway 49 and just south of Grass Valley early Saturday morning around 1:30 AM.

The officer continued to follow the vehicle as the car accelerated away from him.

Again the vehicle accelerated away from the officer.

The officer began to check the area near Northern Lights Road to see if he could locate the vehicle.

A short time later an individual who lived about 100 yards up the road came down and spoke with the officer. He identified the owner of the vehicle as 28 year old Ron Hall and Hall lived in an apartment on his property.

The officer noted a bruise consistent with a seat belt injury and eventually Hall was arrested for felony evasion of a police officer and he was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
