Car Thief Captured in Truckee

A CHP officer caught a car thief as he passed through the Truckee area Sunday. According to CHP Officer Jeff Billings, an officer on routine speed enforcement, using a LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) detector on eastbound Highway 80 at the base of Donner Summit, picked-up a vehicle going well in excess of 80 miles per hour, . The officer initiated a pursuit of the1995 White Dodge Intrepid and the vehicle pulled over just east of the Highway 89 exit.

Leonardo,-Nolan1The driver, eventually identified as Nolan Leonardo of San Francisco, was arrested and booked on vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and  impersonation of somebody else- all felonies.
