CASA Gets Ten Thousand Dollar Grant

Child Advocates of Nevada County has received a $10,000 grant from the California Bar Foundation.  The grant is designated for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program and will help provide advocacy services for children who have been removed from their homes and become part of the Nevada County Dependency Court system. Program Manager, Melinda Douros, is grateful for the agency recognition and the money.

Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASAs, are a vital part of a child’s care when removed from a neglectful situation.

CASAs are sworn officers of the court with their goal being to ensure the children receive all necessary and court ordered services and make sure their needs are met while looking for permanent placement in a loving home.
